WORK TO CLEAR ROCK SLIDE TO GET UNDERWAY

Work continues at a rock and mud slide in Cocke County along interstate 40 which is causing traffic to be re-routed to interstates 26 and 81. Phillips & Jordan of Knoxville has been awarded $59,000 to break up and remove rocks from the roadway. We asked TDOT spokesman Mark Nagi if they know what caused it....

Officials anticipate reopening the westbound lanes Monday. Eastbound travel is not affected. Westbound commercial traffic is making a 55-mile detour over Interstate Highways 26 and 81.
