20th Annual Alcohol Awareness Month
Alcohol is the fourth leading cause
of death among individuals age 10 to 24. In the United States, the average age
kids begin to drink is 12-years-old. Additionally, people that start using
alcohol before the age of 15 are four times more likely to develop an alcohol
addiction at some point in their lives. Advertising and other media
messages play a big role in setting social standards concerning underage
drinking. It has been proven that advertisements for alcoholic beverages
influence current drinking behavior, as well as intentions to drink.
The
above reasons are why we encourage leaders, professionals and coalitions across
the country to participate in the effort to reinforce the message that alcohol
is unacceptable both at school and at home. Delivering truth about what
drugs and alcohol do to a person's mind and body, whether legal or not, is what
is needed in this grave time. Narconon Arrowhead is one of the nation's largest
and most successful education and rehabilitation programs.
Narconon
Arrowhead is offering a PSA entitled "Save A Life" for the individuals in your
community to get the answers to addiction recovery. If you would like a copy of
the "Save A Life" PSA on a DVD, DVC-Pro, or Beta-SP , please contact Natalie
Fraser at 918-339-5889 or via email natalief@stopaddiction.com.
